A Saturday of Winter Cooking with Jean Torné

 

Join us for this season’s Atelier de Cuisine, “The Stillness Within.”  Atelier de Cuisine is a series of one-day workshops that we offer during each season, providing a chance to fully immerse ourselves in the flavours and ingredients that each season brings to our kitchen.

Following the festivities around the Winter Solstice, many of us may experience the cold and quiet month of January as something of a contrast. This can be challenging, but as we enter the depth of winter there is an invitation to find and embrace ‘the stillness within’. Deep winter offers a calm and solitude that can be nourishing, as we recover our energy in preparation for the Spring ahead.

The kitchen can be a place to discover this stillness too. It’s a time when we can enjoy the slower process of stewing hardy vegetables like parsnips, sweet potato and kohlrabi. At the end, we are rewarded by sweet-savoury flavours that bring warmth and comfort to our bodies and spirit.

Atelier de Cuisine is suitable to everyone, with all levels of experience. It is an open space for sharing our love for food and cooking, bringing with us simplicity, joy and creativity.

In this winter workshop, we will:

  • Learn different styles of cooking that are perfect for the cold winter months.
  • Discover practical ways to simplify our home cooking, without compromising nourishment or flavour.
  • Appreciate the relationship between our food, our environment and our wellbeing.
