We are delighted to invite you to “Embracing Deep Winter” a two-day weekend cooking intensive with Jean Torné.
As we enter deep winter, we can see the how the landscape transforms around us revealing a unique beauty and stillness. As nature rests and replenishes itself, we are invited to do the same.
In this winter weekend intensive, we will bring our focus back to basics. Using the fundamentals of wholefoods cooking, we will explore how we can use food and the creative act of cooking itself to nourish ourselves deeply and fully. By aligning ourselves with the energy of winter, we prepare our bodies for the coming spring and summer.

Over this weekend, you will:
- Learn to combine certain foods and ingredients to create warming meals that have a deep nourishing and healing quality.
- Prepare a variety of dishes: from hearty stews, comforting entrées and satisfying desserts, you will discover how to bring out the best in winter produce.
- Learn cooking styles that are suited to the colder weather.
- You will also learn practical tips and techniques so you can work with the challenges that come with winter such as shorter days, ever-demanding work schedules and cold, wet weather.
At the end of the weekend, you will receive a booklet containing all the recipes for the dishes you have prepared. With these foundational dishes, you can create simple and nourishing meals throughout the winter – whether you are cooking for yourself or for a large family.
