Welcome to our summer intensive weekend workshop, ‘Simple Summer Cooking’.

 

In the hot summer months, we generally do not want to be spending many hours in the kitchen at any one time. So we are invited to create ways of nourishing ourselves simply and with ease.

In this weekend intensive programme, we will explore many different ways to use produce that have short summer seasons. We will prepare dishes using cooking styles and techniques that work with the delicate flavours and textures of summer fruits and vegetables, and are suited to the hot weather.

Over the weekend, we will:

  • Bring creativity and playfulness as we learn to cook with seasonal ingredients such as: raspberries, cherries, artichokes, fennel and tomatoes.
  • Learn a variety of light summer dishes from soups, grain salads and desserts.
  • Focus on cooking styles and techniques that simplifies our time in the kitchen during the hot weather without sacrificing on flavour or nourishment.
  • Develop a relationship with the seasonal cycles of the vegetable world, and understand how to use what nature provides to nourishes our bodies and spirit throughout the year.
  • Practical tips and tricks that save time throughout the cooking process – from shopping to chopping!

When we complete the weekend, you will receive a booklet that contains all the recipes from the classes. With these foundational dishes, you will have the knowledge and confidence to create nourishing and delicious meals – whether you are cooking for yourself after work, or in charge of a picnic buffet for friends and family!
